EAST PETERSBURG BOROUGH, PA – On the evening of Sunday, at 8:30 PM, NLCRPD officers responded to a domestic incident at a residence at 6294 High Street.

Mark D. Hackman, a 53-year-old male, was reported to be intoxicated, armed, and threatening to burn down the house. His wife, Deborah Hackman, fled the residence as he set fire to it.

Police confirmed Hackman was armed and attempted to negotiate with him. As the fire intensified, neighboring homes were evacuated.

The fire department, with security provided by NLCRPD officers and Lancaster Co. SERT, contained and extinguished the fire.

The remains of an adult male, suspected to be Hackman, were found with two loaded firearms nearby. The cause of death is under investigation. Deborah Hackman and her family, including their dog, were unharmed.
