LAUREL, DE — Howard Quailes, a 38-year-old man from Hurlock, Maryland, was arrested by Delaware State Police for various gun and traffic offenses following a traffic stop in Laurel on the afternoon of February 25, 2024. The stop, which occurred around 12:17 p.m., was initiated due to an expired tag on Quailes’ silver Ford 500 at the intersection of Seaford Road and Camp Road.

During the stop, troopers detected the smell of marijuana emanating from the vehicle and observed an open beer bottle in the center console. A pat-down search of Quailes led to the discovery of a concealed handgun with an obliterated serial number in his waistband. Quailes was taken into custody without incident. Further search of the vehicle revealed approximately 3.37 grams of marijuana.
