On Thursday, the Baltimore County Police Department arrested 31-year-old Dazhon Darien on charges of stalking, theft, disruption of school operations, and retaliation against a witness.
The charges followed an investigation launched by detectives on January 17, regarding a voice recording circulated on social media, initially purportedly the voice of Pikesville High School Principal Eric Eiswert.
After a thorough investigation, detectives obtained conclusive evidence that the recording was not authentic.
A forensic analyst contracted with the FBI analyzed the recording, determining it contained traces of AI-generated content. A second opinion from a forensic analyst at the University of California, Berkeley corroborated the inauthenticity of the recording, attributing its creation to artificial intelligence technology.
Mr. Darien, formerly the Athletic Director at Pikesville High School, is suspected of producing the recording as a form of retaliation against Mr. Eiswert, who was investigating potential mishandling of school funds at the time.
Facing charges of theft, stalking, disruption of school operations, and retaliation against a witness, Mr. Darien appeared in court this afternoon and was subsequently released on a $5,000 unsecured bond.
