Couple Pleads Guilty in Queens Deed Fraud Scheme

South Ozone Park, NY – Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz announced that Justin Joseph pleaded guilty to a deed fraud scheme that resulted in five properties being stolen. His wife, Latoya Hewitt, pleaded guilty in connection with the theft of one home. Joseph, 45, and Hewitt, 49, of 132nd Street in South Ozone Park, have agreed to pay restitution for homes sold to others.

District Attorney Katz emphasized the importance of safeguarding homeowners from scams and thanked the New York City Sheriff’s Office for their collaboration on the case. New York City Sheriff Anthony Miranda expressed the office’s commitment to prosecuting deed theft and announced two arrests in the matter.
