Washington, D.C – A former government employee with intelligence community ties was arrested and charged with falsely accusing seven co-workers of involvement in the Jan. 6 Capitol attack. Miguel Zapata allegedly submitted fake tips through an FBI form, falsely claiming his colleagues were part of the riot.

Zapata falsely accused his colleagues of sharing conspiracy theories and trying to overthrow the government, court records revealed. None of the accused individuals were in D.C. during the attack as claimed by Zapata, leading to his arrest.
