PHILADELPHIA, PA — Early this morning, Philadelphia police were called to a shooting at a residence on N. Croskey Street, where a 40-year-old woman suffered gunshot wounds to her chest.
The incident, reported at around 12:56 AM, led to the woman being privately transported to Temple University Hospital, where she was listed in stable condition.
At the scene, police discovered a firearm on the second floor without a magazine, found near blood evidence.
The woman informed hospital staff that the injuries were self-inflicted, claiming the gun accidentally discharged while she attempted to reinsert a magazine that had fallen out as she removed the gun from her waist.
Despite initial suspicions due to the nature of the wounds and the fact that the vehicle transporting her did not remain at the hospital, the Shooting Investigation Group concluded that the wounds were indeed self-inflicted, based on the complainant’s statement and scene evidence.
