SOMERVILLE, N.J. – Lenic Galvan, age 22, of Piscataway, was convicted of a sexual assault involving a minor in Bound Brook after a Somerset County jury found him guilty of second-degree Sexual Assault by Contact and third-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

The conviction stemmed from an incident in July 2021 when a 12-year-old child reported being sexually assaulted by Galvan, whom she had met on social media.

Galvan arranged for transportation for the victim to his residence where the assault occurred. The investigation was a joint effort between the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Bound Brook Borough Police Department.

After his arrest on July 26, 2022, Galvan faced charges of first-degree Aggravated Sexual Assault, second-degree Sexual Assault by Contact, and third-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

The case was prosecuted by Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office SVU Detective Sean Fraser and Bound Brook Police. The trial, culminating in Galvan’s recent conviction, involved legal representation by First Assistant Prosecutor Annemarie Mueller, Assistant Prosecutor Emily Pirro, and Litigation Paralegal Supervisor Amy Vandergoot. Galvan’s sentencing, set for July 10, will determine a potential prison sentence of up to ten years and the requirement to register under Megan’s Law and Parole Supervision for Life.
