Woman Caught Breaking Into Home in New Castle

NEW CASTLE, DE – Newark Police have arrested 39-year-old Shantale Seeney of New Castle following a burglary incident reported on the evening of May 24, 2024.

At approximately 9:02 p.m., officers responded to a call from the 400-block of South Chapel Street, where a citizen reported a burglary in progress.

The caller, who was overseeing the property for its owner, noticed Seeney inside the residence without authorization. Previously, Seeney had been explicitly advised against entering the property.

Upon police arrival, Seeney was pointed out by the citizen and was subsequently arrested without incident outside the residence. A search conducted on Seeney revealed property belonging to the homeowner.

After being transported to Newark Police headquarters, Seeney was charged with second-degree burglary and theft under $1500. She appeared before Justice of the Peace Court #11 via video and was held in lieu of $3,000 secured bail. Following the court proceedings, Seeney was transferred to the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution in New Castle.
