ALLENTOWN, PA — District Attorney Gavin P. Holihan and Allentown Police Chief Charles Roca have announced a significant development in a 2022 homicide investigation. Steven Michael Rosa, a resident of Allentown, has been arrested and charged with the murder of Tywon Deleva Abner.
Rosa, born on January 28, 1994, faces multiple charges including Criminal Homicide and Being a Person Not to Possess a Firearm, both first-degree felonies, due to a prior robbery conviction. Additionally, he is charged with the third-degree felony of Carrying Firearms Without a License, again linked to a prior conviction.
Currently held in Lehigh County Jail on unrelated charges, Rosa has been denied bail for the homicide charge. His preliminary hearing is set for June 11 at 1:30 p.m.
The charges stem from the July 28, 2022, incident where Tywon Deleva Abner, aged 33, also from Allentown, was fatally shot in the chest. The shooting took place just after 11 p.m. on the 500 block of West Allen Street, and Abner’s death was subsequently ruled a homicide by the Lehigh County Coroner.
This case has been thoroughly investigated by the 12th Investigating Grand Jury of Lehigh County, the Lehigh County Homicide Task Force, Detective Kevin Mriss, and Allentown Police Detective Miguel Villa. The Grand Jury proceedings were overseen by Chief Deputy District Attorney Bethany S. Zampogna and Senior Deputy District Attorney Gregory R. Englert. The arrest marks a pivotal step in bringing closure to this tragic case.
