BOSTON, MA—The Boston Police Department successfully apprehended four suspects involved in a Hyde Park moped robbery. The incident occurred at approximately 11:36 AM on Wednesday at 148 Central Avenue. The victim reported being robbed of his moped scooter by several males, one of whom brandished a firearm.
Hyde Park’s E-18 Detectives and Officers, upon receiving the victim’s and witnesses’ accounts, conducted a neighborhood canvas that indicated five suspects were involved in the crime. The investigation was further aided by a broadcast of the suspects’ descriptions across law enforcement channels.
An officer from the BPD School Police Unit, responding to the descriptions, linked the suspects to an earlier assault near the Academy of the Pacific Rim School at 1 Westinghouse Plaza. This led to a pinpointed search in the area between Garfield Ave. and Washington St., where the suspects were located and pursued on foot. Despite the chase, all four suspects were eventually captured with assistance from multiple officers.
Recovered in the operation were two stolen moped scooters; one was returned to the original owner, and the second was secured at District E-18. Sincere Hector Lyons, 18, of Dedham, MA, faces charges including Armed Robbery with a Firearm and Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle. Additionally, three juveniles were arrested and face similar charges, with one also cited for operating a motor vehicle without a license.
