Investigation Underway After Highway Shooting in New Castle

NEW CASTLE, DE – Delaware State Police are currently investigating a shooting incident that occurred on I-95 near Exit 141 in the early hours of Saturday morning. The event took place just after 1:00 AM on June 22, when a 35-year-old man was shot in the upper back shoulder.

The victim, a passenger in a white Hyundai Sonata, was swiftly transported to a local hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening. According to initial reports, the incident occurred as the Sonata was merging onto I-95 northbound. At around 1:06 AM, an unknown suspect in a light-colored sedan with dark tinted windows and bright fluorescent headlights pulled alongside and fired three shots into the Sonata before speeding away northbound.

The Delaware State Police Troop 2 Criminal Investigations Unit is leading the ongoing investigation.
