Newark Police Request Public Assistance in Locating Man for Armed Robbery Investigation

NEWARK, NJ — The Newark Department of Public Safety is appealing to the public for assistance in locating 33-year-old Anthony Carter, Jr. of Irvington. Carter is wanted for questioning related to an armed robbery that took place on the evening of June 15, 2024.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m. at a residence on Sherman Avenue near Astor Street. According to reports, as a resident was opening the door to let out a visitor, two armed men forced their way into the home. The intruders, described as Black males dressed in all-black attire and wearing face masks, proceeded to rob the occupants. They allegedly stole wallets containing a total of $400 and other personal items, along with car keys from the victims. Interestingly, no items were taken from the visitor who was leaving at the time.

Both suspects, noted for their similar heights of about 6 feet and slim builds, fled the scene on foot heading south on Sherman Avenue.

Director Fritz G. Fragé is urging anyone with information regarding Anthony Carter, Jr.’s whereabouts to come forward to aid the ongoing investigation.
