Off-Duty Coast Guard Members Aid Swimmer in Distress at the Jersey Shore

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, NJ — A recreational swimmer in distress received timely assistance thanks to the heroic efforts of four off-duty members of the United States Coast Guard. The incident occurred on June 27, prompting a response from the Township of Hamilton Police Department.

The Coast Guard personnel, stationed at Atlantic City, were nearby when the emergency unfolded. They provided immediate first aid, stabilizing the swimmer until further help arrived. The individual was subsequently transported to the hospital by Township of Hamilton Rescue for additional treatment.

The Township of Hamilton Police Department is using this event to remind both residents and visitors of the importance of swimming only in designated areas that are supervised by lifeguards to ensure safety.
