Syracuse Police Department Celebrates Acts of Bravery at Annual Awards Ceremony

Syracuse, NY — The Syracuse Police Department held its annual awards ceremony on Thursday, June 27th, 2024, at the Palace Theatre, where they honored several members of their team for outstanding service throughout 2023.

The ceremony, emceed by Christie Casciano of Newschannel 9, highlighted the exceptional contributions of 31 police officers and one civilian employee. Casciano recounted several stories of heroism, focusing on the officers’ efforts to remove illegal narcotics and firearms from the streets, significantly enhancing community safety.

The event also included a poignant moment of silence in remembrance of fallen heroes, Syracuse Police Officer Michael Jensen and Onondaga County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Michael Hoosock, whose sacrifices were solemnly acknowledged.
