Attempted Abduction at Queens Day Care Averted

Queens, NY – On Monday, July 15, at approximately 4:50 p.m., an unidentified male attempted to pick up a 3-year-old child from a day care facility located at 35-19 Leavitt Street. The male informed staff that he was sent by the child’s father, who would be 20 minutes late.

Day care staff, upon checking their records, found that the male was not listed as an emergency contact and refused to release the child. The male stated he would wait outside but fled on foot shortly afterward. The child remained safe and secure inside the facility.

The police are investigating the incident and seeking any information that could help identify the suspect.
