Burglary Suspect Arrested in D.C. Thanks to Community Tip

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A man has been arrested for burglarizing a restaurant in Northwest Washington, thanks to a tip from a community member.

On Thursday, at approximately 4:38 a.m., a suspect forcibly entered a restaurant in the 3300 block of 14th Street, Northwest, and stole a cash register before fleeing. A second suspect then entered the establishment and took additional property before also fleeing the scene.

On Monday, a community member recognized one of the suspects from police crime bulletins and promptly alerted authorities. Third District officers responded and arrested the suspect, identified as 35-year-old Victor Thomas Newcity, who has no fixed address. He has been charged with Burglary Second Degree.
