Cumberland Man Arrested on Assault Charges

CUMBERLAND, Md. — A 21-year-old man was arrested on assault charges Saturday morning following a disturbance on North Centre Street. The incident occurred around 10:48 a.m. on August 31, according to the Cumberland Police Department.

Officers responded to reports of a disturbance in the 100 block of North Centre Street and upon arrival, made contact with the involved parties. The alleged victim reported that Tyler Eric Bennett had assaulted her.

Authorities observed that the victim had sustained injuries, though the extent of those injuries was not disclosed. After further investigation, Bennett was arrested and transported to Central Booking.

Bennett, of Cumberland, was charged with second-degree assault. He was later presented before a District Court Commissioner and released on a $2,500 unsecured personal bond.
