NEW HAVEN, CONNECTICUT — A federal grand jury in New Haven has returned a four-count indictment charging Terrell Kimble, 44, of Hartford, with wire fraud in connection with a scheme to defraud Amazon, U.S. Attorney Avery announced on Thursday. The indictment, returned on August 7, 2024, accuses Kimble of misusing an employee reward program to obtain high-end electronic goods for personal use.
Kimble, who was employed as a Regional Fleet Specialist and Area Manager for Amazon in Connecticut, is alleged to have exploited Amazon’s “Peak” employee reward program between July 2021 and December 2022. The indictment states that Kimble placed at least 196 fraudulent orders through Coupa, the procurement portal used to administer the program. Instead of rewarding employees for superior performance, Kimble allegedly had the items—such as Apple iPad Pro tablets, Apple AirPods Pro, Apple Watches, and Nintendo Switch consoles—delivered to his mother’s residence for his personal use.
On August 15, 2024, Kimble was arrested and subsequently pleaded not guilty to the charges. He was released on a $250,000 bond.
Each count of wire fraud carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison. U.S. Attorney Avery emphasized that an indictment is not proof of guilt and that all charges are merely allegations at this stage. Kimble is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
