LEWES, Del. — Delaware State Police arrested 20-year-old Michael Jones of Bridgeville, Delaware, on Friday after an incident at the Sussex Consortium that led to a school lockdown.

Troopers were called to the special education school at approximately 12:28 p.m. on Sept. 13 following reports of a student destroying a classroom and making threats to shoot the staff. The school was placed on lockdown due to the student’s behavior.

According to the police, Jones caused around $1,500 in damage to school property. Though he made threatening statements, no firearms were involved, and no injuries were reported. Troopers took Jones into custody without incident.

Jones was charged with felony terroristic threatening and other related offenses. He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on his own recognizance.
