Off-duty NYPD employee arrested on assault, child endangerment charges

NEW YORK — An off-duty employee of the New York Police Department was arrested Friday night in the Bronx, according to police officials.

Crystal Underdue, a 30-year-old NYPD police communications technician, was taken into custody around 8 p.m. within the 46th Precinct. She faces charges of second-degree assault, third-degree assault, and endangering the welfare of a child.

Authorities have not disclosed specific details about the alleged incident that led to the arrest. The charges suggest an alleged physical altercation and potential harm involving a child.

The NYPD confirmed Underdue’s employment but did not comment further on the case. The matter remains under investigation.
