WASHINGTON, D.C. — A domestic dispute escalated into a shooting Friday night in Northeast Washington, leaving five people injured and resulting in the arrest of a suspect, police said.

At approximately 8:18 p.m., officers from the Fifth District responded to the 1500 block of Harry Thomas Way for a report of gunfire. Upon arrival, they located two adult males and an adult female, all suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS transported the victims to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Two additional adult males with non-life-threatening injuries later arrived at a hospital on their own, authorities said.

Detectives determined that one of the injured males was responsible for the shooting. Following an investigation, police arrested 28-year-old Deamonte Bridgeforth of Northeast D.C. He has been charged with three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon (gun).

Investigators confirmed that the shooting was domestic in nature and occurred during an altercation between Bridgeforth and one of the victims.
