Two injured in Country Green Road shooting in Albemarle

ALBEMARLE COUNTY, VA — Two people were injured in a shooting Wednesday night on Country Green Road, prompting a heavy police presence as investigators worked to secure the area and gather information, according to the Albemarle County Police Department.

Officers responded to the 660 block of Country Green Road at approximately 8:50 p.m. following a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, they located two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to UVA Health with injuries described as non-life-threatening.

Authorities confirmed that there is no ongoing threat to the public. As of late Wednesday, law enforcement remained on the scene conducting an active investigation.

The police department issued a public advisory shortly after the incident, urging residents to avoid the area due to the increased law enforcement activity. No suspects have been identified, and the motive behind the shooting has not been disclosed.

“There is a heavy police presence on the 660 block of Country Green Road due to an active shooting investigation,” the department announced in a public statement.


Ongoing investigation seeks public input

The Albemarle County Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division is leading the inquiry and has asked anyone with relevant information to come forward. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers.

It remains unclear whether the victims were known to each other or if the incident occurred inside a residence or outdoors. Investigators have not yet stated how many shots were fired or whether any weapons were recovered.

As of Thursday morning, the scene had been cleared but the investigation continues. Police have not released the identities of the victims.

Residents with surveillance footage or information related to the shooting have been encouraged to contact the department.
