SOLOMONS, Md. — The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal collision that occurred Wednesday morning in Solomons, leaving one person dead and two others hospitalized with injuries.
Deputies responded at approximately 8 a.m. to a two-vehicle crash involving entrapment on southbound Solomons Island Road (Route 4) near Creston Lane. Upon arrival, officers located a white 2005 Lincoln Town Car and a 2021 GMC involved in the crash.
A passenger in the Lincoln was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin. The Calvert County Crash Reconstruction Unit has taken over the investigation due to the severity of the incident.
A preliminary investigation determined that the Lincoln, driven by 66-year-old Lewis Bert Michaud of Lusby, was traveling northbound and attempting to cross into Creston Lane when it entered the southbound lanes of Route 4. At that moment, a southbound GMC driven by 34-year-old Lindsay Rae Kreuter of Lothian struck the Lincoln on its passenger side.
Kreuter told deputies the Lincoln crossed directly into her path and that she was unable to avoid the collision. Both vehicles sustained significant damage.
