Teen dead in Millsboro crash after car crosses center line

MILLSBORO, Del. — Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred Tuesday evening in Millsboro, leaving one man dead and two others injured.

The incident happened at approximately 5:16 p.m. on Hollyville Road near Harmon’s Hill Road. According to investigators, a Lincoln MKZ was traveling westbound when it crossed into the eastbound lane and struck a Cadillac Escalade traveling in the opposite direction.

In an attempt to avoid the collision, the driver of the Cadillac swerved onto the right shoulder, but the Lincoln’s front end collided with the front of the SUV.

The 19-year-old driver of the Lincoln, a Dagsboro resident who was not wearing a seatbelt, was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries. His identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The 52-year-old driver of the Cadillac, also from Dagsboro, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital. A 56-year-old passenger in the Cadillac from Millsboro was also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Crash remains under investigation

State police have not yet determined why the Lincoln entered the opposing lane. Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
