Hartly man arrested after armed home invasion at Camden-Wyoming RV

A man known to the victim was arrested after an armed break-in at a Delaware RV, while two suspects remain unidentified.

CAMDEN-WYOMING, DE — Delaware State Police arrested a 48-year-old man Saturday night following a home invasion and robbery involving masked suspects at an RV residence on Mud Mill Road.

Troopers were dispatched around 10:58 p.m. to the 5000 block of Mud Mill Road after receiving a report of a robbery in progress. According to investigators, three masked men forcibly entered an RV, with one suspect threatening the resident with a knife while the others stole property from inside.

The victim identified one of the intruders as George Carey of Hartly, Delaware. Police said Carey fled the scene on foot while the other two suspects left in a black Ford crossover-type vehicle.

Troopers canvassed the area and located Carey walking along Mud Mill Road. He was taken into custody without incident. A search of his person and belongings yielded the victim’s stolen items, along with approximately 5.24 grams of methamphetamine, 3.68 grams of marijuana, and related drug paraphernalia.

Active investigation and pending charges

Carey was transported to Troop 3, where he was charged with multiple offenses, including robbery, burglary, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, and drug-related charges. He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 7 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $30,000 cash bond.

The other two suspects remain at large. Detectives continue to investigate and are working to confirm their identities.

Police have not released the name of the victim, who was not injured during the incident.
