Man critical after being struck by vehicle in North Bergen hit and run

A 42-year-old man was critically injured in a North Bergen hit-and-run that remains under investigation by county and local authorities.

NORTH BERGEN, N.J. — A 42-year-old Union City man remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition following a hit-and-run collision early Wednesday morning in North Bergen, according to the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office.

The incident occurred just before 5 a.m. near 2600 Tonnelle Avenue, where officers from the North Bergen Police Department responded to a report of a pedestrian struck. Upon arrival, they found the victim with serious injuries at the scene.

Emergency Medical Services transported the man to Jersey City Medical Center, where he is currently being treated. The vehicle involved did not remain at the scene, and no arrests or identifications of the driver have been announced.

The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit, working with the North Bergen Police Department, has launched an investigation into the crash.

Investigators seek information on fleeing driver

Prosecutor Esther Suarez confirmed in a statement that the agencies are actively working the case and will release updates as more details become available. Authorities have not yet released a description of the vehicle involved.

Anyone with information is urged to contact law enforcement as the investigation into the hit-and-run remains ongoing.
