OCEAN CITY, Md. — A Baltimore man has been arrested following a string of vehicle break-ins, credit card fraud, and weapons charges after an investigation led by the Ocean City Police Department.

On Thursday, officers responded to the 100 block of Wicomico Street at approximately 8:59 a.m. after receiving a report of theft. The victim told police that after arriving in Ocean City the previous afternoon, she discovered her vehicle had been broken into overnight and personal belongings were missing. She also received alerts from her credit card company about unauthorized purchases at local businesses.

Using security camera footage from the area, police obtained a description of the suspect. Later that evening, around 7:46 p.m., a Worcester County Sheriff’s Office Deputy spotted an individual matching the description near 8th Street and Wilmington Lane.

When law enforcement attempted to stop him, the suspect fled on foot. After a brief pursuit, officers apprehended the suspect, identified as Terrell Jones, 37, of Baltimore. “Officers pursued the suspect… and were able to apprehend him after a brief chase,” police stated.

Evidence recovered during pursuit

During the chase, officers observed Jones discarding multiple items, including a large bag concealed in a rose bush. Upon recovering the bag, officers discovered a modified handgun. Additional items were also recovered along the suspect’s path.

Investigators later connected the recovered property to two vehicle break-ins, including the reported theft on Wicomico Street and an additional unreported break-in from the 400 block of Baltimore Avenue.
