PHILADELPHIA — A 42-year-old man was shot and killed early Saturday morning inside a residence on East Cambria Street, police confirmed.
At approximately 12:36 a.m., officers from the 24th District responded to a radio call reporting a person with a gun on the 400 block of East Cambria Street. Upon arrival, they discovered the unresponsive victim inside the home’s living room.
Police said the man had suffered two gunshot wounds, one to the chest and another to the left shoulder. Medics arrived at the scene and pronounced him dead at 12:42 a.m.
Authorities have not released the victim’s identity pending notification of family. No arrests have been made and no weapon has been recovered.
Homicide Unit leads investigation as motive remains unclear
Investigators with the Homicide Unit are leading the case. As of Saturday, police have not determined a motive for the shooting and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation. Officials have not indicated whether the victim lived at the residence or was visiting at the time of the shooting.
The fatal shooting adds to a growing number of homicides in the city as law enforcement continues efforts to address ongoing gun violence.
