PHILADELPHIA — Police are investigating after a man was dropped off at Albert Einstein Medical Center early Sunday morning with a gunshot wound.
According to the Philadelphia Police Department, officers from the 35th District responded to the hospital on the 5500 block of Old York Road at approximately 3:20 a.m. after receiving a report of a gunshot victim.
Upon arrival, officers located an adult male in the emergency room receiving treatment for a gunshot wound to his left shoulder. The victim was uncooperative with investigators and refused to provide any details about where or how the shooting occurred.
At this time, the motive behind the shooting remains unknown. Police have not released the victim’s identity or any information about possible suspects.
The Special Investigations Group (SIG) has taken over the investigation, which remains ongoing.
Victim’s refusal to cooperate hampers investigation
Authorities confirmed that the victim was transported to the hospital by a private vehicle. No witnesses have come forward, and no crime scene has been located as of Sunday morning.
Detectives are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and are reviewing any available surveillance footage from the area in an attempt to gather additional information.
