Man flees police in go-kart after ditching backpack full of cocaine

FORT PIERCE, FL – A man has been arrested after attempting to flee police in a go-kart after dumping his backpack full of cocaine.

“Last week, while most people were playing Mario Cart on their Nintendo, 21-year-old Miguel Angel Sanchez decided he would take the game to the streets of Fort Pierce,” the St. Lucie Sheriff’s Office said. “What he didn’t expect is a St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Deputy to spot him. Oh, did we mention it’s illegal to burn rubber on a public street in a go-cart?”

When the deputies tried to stop Mr. Sanchez, the game was on. Sanchez threw a backpack from his racer, bent a few corners and then ditched the cart, running away on foot.

Fortunately, our deputies were faster than he was and quickly cornered him where he was arrested. K9 Mak located a handgun near Sanchez’s abandoned cart, and in his discarded backpack was more than 15 grams of cocaine.

Sanchez was booked into the St. Lucie County Jail for fleeing and eluding law enforcement, resisting without violence, possession of cocaine and destroying evidence.
