A Transgender Odyssey Takes Center Stage in Asbury Park

ASBURY PARK, NJ – On Sunday, December 8, 2024, the House of Independents will host She’s NorMāle – A Transgender Odyssey, a groundbreaking multimedia musical production by Geenetica (Geena Buono). This unique matinee event, running from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, invites audiences into a vibrant celebration of transgender life, authenticity, and the human spirit.

The production combines live music, biographical storytelling, spoken word, poetry, and vivid graphic animations crafted by projection designer Denis Randall. Geenetica, who conceptualized every visual and musical element, describes the show as a deeply personal reflection on the beauty and complexity of living authentically.

“With this show, I want people to see that the path to self-discovery, though challenging, is an extraordinary journey worth celebrating,” Geenetica shared.

Backed by a talented local band, including Faye Fadem on drums, Kevin Stryker on bass, John Kadian on keyboards, Denis Blume on lead guitar, and Geenetica herself on lead vocals and acoustic guitar, the performance promises to be both heartfelt and electrifying. Geenetica also hinted at a special moment in the show that embodies its entire spirit.

An afterparty from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM will cap off the evening, featuring a pay bar and a dual celebration of Geenetica’s birthday and the holiday season.

Sponsored by Garden State Equality and TheaterQ – Asbury Park, the event is a testament to the community’s ongoing efforts to uplift and support LGBTQ+ voices.

Tickets are $40 and can be purchased without fees in person at Rebel Supply Company, 550 Cookman Avenue, or online at HouseOfIndependents.com with applicable fees. Doors and the bar open at 2:00 PM.

“She’s NorMāle – A Transgender Odyssey” promises to leave audiences inspired, united, and celebrating the courage it takes to live authentically. For further information, reach out to ShesNormale@gmail.com.
