Gunman in $500 beauty shop heist caught after barricade drama

Washington, DC — A 22-year-old man was arrested after a U.S. District Court search warrant led to a barricade situation at his Southeast DC home, linking him to an armed robbery at a beauty supply store in August, officials said.

George Carr, of Southeast, was taken into custody without incident on Wednesday, October 1, following a police operation at his residence. He has been charged with Armed Robbery (Gun) in connection to a violent holdup that occurred on Friday, August 1, around 6:10 p.m., in the 2400 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Southeast.

Investigators say Carr was one of two individuals who entered the store and forced two employees to the ground at gunpoint. While one suspect brandished the firearm, the second suspect allegedly stole $500 from the cash register before both fled the scene.

Police executed a search warrant at Carr’s home two months later, resulting in a brief barricade situation before his arrest. Authorities have not announced whether the second suspect has been identified or apprehended.

The Metropolitan Police Department said the case remains open and is continuing to seek information from the public. A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for tips leading to an arrest and conviction in connection to violent crimes in the District.
