Man shot during attempted carjacking at Beltway Plaza Mall in Greenbelt

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, MD — A man was shot Saturday afternoon during an attempted carjacking in the rear parking lot of the Beltway Plaza Mall in Greenbelt, police said.

The incident occurred around 4 p.m. on Nov. 23, when three teenage boys reportedly approached the man as he was getting into his car. The suspects, armed with a gun, demanded his car keys. When the man refused to comply, they shot him in the lower body before fleeing on foot toward Berwyn Heights.

Officers at the scene applied two tourniquets and administered lifesaving care before transporting the victim to a local hospital. As of Monday morning, police reported that the man is in stable condition and is expected to recover.
