Maryland seafood shop owner hooks $50K scratch off jackpot after lucky liquor store stop

Aberdeen player turned a $20 win into a massive Bonus Bingo payday

ABERDEEN, Md. — A Maryland seafood carry-out owner who recently celebrated a modest lottery win is now reeling in a much bigger prize after turning a quick liquor store stop into a $50K scratch-off jackpot.

The Abingdon resident claimed the prize Monday after playing a Bonus Bingo X10 scratch-off ticket purchased at Northside Liquors, located at 210 North Philadelphia Blvd. in Aberdeen, according to Maryland Lottery officials.

The winner said he initially stopped at the store after work to buy beer and cigarettes and decided to add a scratch-off ticket to the purchase.

After winning $20 on the first ticket, the restaurant owner chose to cash it in and buy another $20 ticket from the slot next to the original game. That decision led to the Bonus Bingo X10 ticket that changed the night.
