A pedestrian was flown to a New Brunswick trauma center after being struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Route 31 and Church Street in Flemington, authorities said.
Police and prosecutors are investigating a serious pedestrian crash that occurred Monday morning at one of Flemington’s busiest intersections.
The collision happened at approximately 8:13 a.m. at the intersection of State Highway 31 and Church Street, according to a joint statement from the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office and the Flemington Borough Police Department.
Pedestrian struck during left turn
Investigators said a Subaru Crosstrek hatchback was making a left turn onto Route 31 South when it collided with a pedestrian.
Emergency responders arrived and found the injured pedestrian at the scene.
“The hatchback was making a left turn at the traffic light onto Route 31 South and collided with the pedestrian,” authorities said.
The pedestrian was airlifted to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick for treatment.
Victim remains hospitalized
Officials said the pedestrian was listed in stable condition following the crash.
The driver of the Subaru was not injured.
Authorities have not released the identities of those involved, and no charges have been announced.
Multiple agencies responded
The response included personnel from the Flemington Borough Police Department, Raritan Township Police Department, Readington Township Police Department, Flemington-Raritan First Aid and Rescue Squad, Flemington Fire Department, Hunterdon Medical Center paramedics, and the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office.
The circumstances leading up to the crash remain under investigation.
