Pointer mix found with harness left unclaimed at Jersey shelter

Freckles the Pointer mix still waiting for forever home after being found with leash and no owner

Jackson, NJ – A four-year-old Pointer mix named Freckles is still searching for a forever home after arriving at the Northern Ocean County Animal Facility as a stray—complete with a harness and leash, but no one to claim him.

Staff at the Jackson-based shelter say Freckles has been overlooked for adoption despite his friendly personality and readiness to become part of a family. He arrived weeks ago and passed all behavioral assessments, showing no signs of resource guarding. Though he’s active and still learning basic manners, he’s easy to walk and eager to connect.

Freckles is neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, and current on all vaccines. Shelter officials say he would do best in a home with older children, and while he’s not a fan of cats, he may be able to live with another dog after a proper introduction.

Freckles is available for immediate adoption at the Northern Ocean County Animal Facility, located at 615 Freemont Avenue in Jackson. The shelter is open every day from 1 to 4 p.m.
