Glen Burnie man busted after shots fired inside apartment packed with drugs and ghost gun

Glen Burnie, MD — A quiet Glen Burnie apartment complex erupted in chaos late Monday afternoon after a barrage of gunfire led police to uncover a drug stash and an untraceable handgun, ending in the arrest of a 34-year-old man now facing a slew of serious charges.

Officers responded around 4:45 p.m. to the 7800 block of Burton Drive following reports of shots fired from inside an apartment. While no injuries were reported, a search of the unit revealed evidence of a recent shooting, including five spent shell casings and extensive damage caused by fired bullets. The unit was secured and turned over to the Northern District Detective Unit for further investigation.

Detectives executed a search warrant and discovered a cache of narcotics and weapons inside the apartment. Among the seized items were a 9mm Polymer 80 ghost gun, five expended 9mm shell casings, eight live rounds, and an empty magazine. In addition, officers recovered a significant quantity of suspected illegal drugs: roughly 50 grams of suspected cocaine, 20 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 6.5 grams of suspected crack cocaine, multiple pill bottles containing a variety of blue pills, powder, capsules, and over two grams of suspected amphetamine dextroamphetamine.

Also recovered from the apartment were drug packaging materials and a digital scale, typically used in narcotics distribution.

Investigators believe the fired rounds originated from inside the apartment, though a motive for the shooting has not yet been released. The suspect, identified as Christian Rakem Dennis, a 34-year-old resident of Glen Burnie, was taken into custody at the scene and charged with multiple counts related to firearm possession and controlled dangerous substance (CDS) distribution.

No other individuals were reported injured, and the apartment was found to be unoccupied at the time of the incident aside from the suspect. Police have not indicated whether additional arrests are expected.

Dennis remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
