Son gamble pays off as Ohio mom hits $46K on TV lottery show
Orient, OH — A son’s decision to submit a lottery entry in his mother’s name turned into a $46,400 win after she was selected for a televised game show and landed multiple bonuses.
Kathy Harvey of Pickaway County appeared on the Ohio Lottery’s Cash Explosion show after her son, John Gardiner, entered her into the drawing following years of unsuccessful attempts on his own.
During the game, Harvey initially planned to select a different set of numbers but made a last-minute change to 2, 3, and 23. The numbers carried personal significance tied to her children and grandchildren.

The adjustment resulted in a $46,400 prize after she revealed both a 2X and 3X bonus during gameplay.
