Walmart Using A.I. to Help Holiday Shoppers on Black Friday

TRENTON, NJ — Walmart has unveiled its most expansive Black Friday and Cyber Monday plans yet, combining deep discounts, surprise deal drops, and cutting-edge generative AI-powered tools to enhance the shopping experience throughout November.

The retailer’s Black Friday events are divided into three phases, beginning online Nov. 11 for Walmart+ members with in-store deals rolling out Nov. 15, and continuing through Cyber Monday, Dec. 2. Highlights include discounts of up to $250 on top brands like Dyson, Apple, and Samsung, as well as exclusive items like Levi’s jeans for $15 and LEGO sets for $30. Walmart+ members enjoy five hours of early access to deals and can take advantage of a half-price membership offer through Dec. 2, reducing the annual fee to $49.

This year, Walmart introduces its generative AI shopping assistant, designed to help customers evaluate products, explore new categories, and make informed purchase decisions through natural conversation. The AI technology will also personalize Walmart.com with curated holiday content and streamline customer support with tools that simplify returns and order management.

“Walmart’s ‘Black Friday Deals’ events are a one-stop shop for incredible savings,” said Latriece Watkins, Walmart U.S.’s chief merchandising officer. “Customers can rest assured we’ll have the season’s must-have gifts from top brands.”

Walmart’s new delivery options, including early morning and express delivery, have expanded to reach an additional 12 million households, while paid Walmart+ members can upgrade to InHome delivery for added convenience. Meanwhile, a new marketing series, Deals of Desire, merges entertainment with holiday shopping, promoting the retailer’s savings events through storytelling.

With surprise deals, AI enhancements, and exclusive offers, Walmart’s Black Friday and Cyber Monday events are set to deliver a seamless and competitive holiday shopping experience.
