Two charged for attempted murder during Shore road rage incident

OCEAN TOWNSHIP, NJ –  Keshawn J. Palmer, 29, of Freehold and Chyna R. Edwards, 22, of Tinton Falls have been charged for the a road rage incident that escalated into a shooting.

The Ocean Township Police Department issued the following statement:

On January 14th, 2022 at approximately 11:04 pm officers were dispatched to the area of Sunset Avenue near Wickapecko Drive for a report of shots fired.  Upon arrival officers did not locate anyone on the scene who had been involved in any type of shooting incident. 

During their investigation, it was learned that a road rage incident had begun in Eatontown and continued through several towns before both vehicles stopped in Ocean Township where the victim sustained a gunshot wound. 

   Detective Dean Schoch was called to the scene and conducted an investigation.  Over the course of the next several weeks he was able to locate the suspect vehicle and positively identify the driver and the passenger.  The driver was identified as Chyna R. Edwards and the passenger who fired the gun at the victim as Keshawn J. Palmer.  Detective Schoch issued arrest warrants for Edwards and Palmer.  Both Palmer and Edwards responded to police headquarters and were taken into custody on February 15th, 2022. 

   Palmer was charged with Attempted Murder, Conspiracy, Unlawful Possession of a Handgun, Possession of a Handgun for an Unlawful Purpose, Possession of a High Capacity Magazine, and Certain Persons Not to Possess a Firearm. 

   Edwards was charged with Attempted Murder, Conspiracy, Unlawful Possession of a Handgun, Possession of a Handgun for an Unlawful Purpose, Possession of a High Capacity Magazine and Assault by Auto.  They were both processed and committed to the Monmouth County Correctional Institute pending an initial court appearance.
