Police investigating accidental gun discharge

UTICA, NY – An unidentified male victim was taken to the hospital Thursday morning after he was accidentally shot in the face by another man, according to police.

At around 1:40 AM, police officers and firefighters were dispatched to the 1300 block of Mary Street regarding a male who was struck by gunfire in the face.

“Upon arrival, they located a male victim who appeared to have been shot in the ear and was requiring medical services,” police reported. “Furthermore, there was another party on scene who was providing contradictory information as to what the victim was providing.”

The victim was rushed to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital for treatment. During their investigation, but the victim and suspect admitted they were hold a .22 caliber gun when the firearm discharged, accidentally striking the victim in the face,

Michael Durso, 51, was charged with criminal possession of a firearm and reckless endangerment.
