FISHING CREEK, MD – A structure fire occurred at 2527 Old House Point Road in Fishing Creek on Thursday, at 2:27 PM.

The affected property, a two-story, wood-frame single-family home owned by Edward Poland, suffered an estimated $50,000 in damages.

The Hoopers Island Volunteer Fire Department responded, with 12 firefighters controlling the fire in 27 minutes.

The cause of the fire, originating from the kitchen floor, was determined accidental due to a malfunctioning kerosene heater.
