UTICA, NY – A routine traffic stop conducted by the Crime Prevention Unit on the evening of March 4th near the intersection of Genesee St and Oswego St led to the discovery of a loaded handgun on a juvenile. The stop, initiated due to violations of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law, escalated when officers noticed furtive movements and suspicious behavior from the front passenger, a known individual from recent gun violence incidents.

Upon further investigation and a pat frisk, officers discovered a loaded 9mm handgun in the waistband of the 16-year-old male passenger. He was immediately detained and transported to the Utica Police Department for further processing.
