Man Dies After Fleeing Crash in D.C.

WASHINGTON, DC — A man succumbed to his injuries after being involved in a crash and then driving away from the scene in the 3rd Street Tunnel, police said on Sunday. The incident, involving 48-year-old Ronald Jerome Jordan Jr., occurred on Friday evening as he navigated northbound in a Chevy Malibu tunnel.

According to the D.C. Metro Police Department, Jordan rear-ended a Ford Transit Wagon shortly before 5:30 p.m. but continued driving. In a subsequent attempt to merge back into traffic from the shoulder lane, Jordan’s vehicle mounted the east curb and collided with a light pole.

The Capitol Heights, Maryland, resident was transported to a local hospital, where he later died due to the injuries sustained in the crash.
