Newark Seeks Public Help to Identify Package Theft Suspect

NEWARK, NJ — The Newark Public Safety Department is requesting assistance from the public in identifying a suspect involved in two recent package thefts. The thefts occurred at a residence on Telford Street near Norwood Place, with the first incident taking place on Saturday, April 6th, 2024, and the second on Tuesday, April 9th, 2024.

The stolen packages included items from Bed Bath and Beyond valued at $70 and from Amazon valued at $120. The suspect in question is described as an older Black man with a black and gray beard, wearing glasses, a black jacket, a gray hooded sweatshirt, gray jeans, and a black hat.

Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé is urging anyone with information about the identity of this suspect to contact the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). Information provided is kept confidential, and tipsters may be eligible for a reward.
