Manhattan Man Arrested for Attempted Murder in Ongoing Investigation

The New York City Police Department (NYPD) has arrested and charged Kibwe Charles, 47, in connection with an attempted murder investigation. Charles, a resident of 63 Morningside Avenue, was taken into custody on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. within the 26th Precinct. He has been charged with Attempted Murder in the Second Degree.

The NYPD is requesting the public’s help to identify and locate an individual wanted in connection with a non-fatal shooting that occurred on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at approximately 9:45 a.m. within the 26th Precinct. According to reports, a 56-year-old male victim was engaged in a dispute with an unknown individual. The suspect brandished a firearm and shot the victim, causing a wound to the left ear. The suspect fled northbound on West 125th Street and Morningside Avenue. The victim was transported by EMS to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital for treatment.
