CUMBERLAND, MD—A midday traffic incident on Saturday at the intersection of Centre Street and Market Street led to the arrest of 32-year-old Timothy Ray Kesner. Cumberland City Police Department officers were called to the scene around 12:30 PM following a report of a motor vehicle crash.

Upon arrival, it was determined that Kesner had rear-ended another vehicle that was stopping at the intersection. Officers noted signs of impairment in Kesner, who was subjected to field sobriety tests and subsequently arrested.

A search incident to the arrest revealed Kesner was in possession of suspected crack cocaine and fentanyl. Shortly after the arrest, Kesner exhibited symptoms of a medical emergency, prompting police to call an ambulance.

Kesner faces multiple charges including two counts of controlled dangerous substances possession (not cannabis), driving while impaired, and negligent driving. He was issued criminal citations and DWI-related traffic citations but is currently free pending his trial in District Court.
