Driver Charged After Colliding with Deputy’s Vehicle in Salisbury

SALISBURY, Md. — A motor vehicle collision involving an on-duty Wicomico County Sheriff’s Deputy occurred on August 30, 2024, at the intersection of Route 50 and Delaware Avenue. The incident took place at approximately 11:35 a.m.

The deputy was stopped at a red traffic signal while traveling westbound on Route 50 when another vehicle struck the rear of the deputy’s vehicle. The deputy, along with the driver and passenger of the striking vehicle, were treated and released from Tidal Health.

The driver of the striking vehicle, identified as Lashawn Brown from Princess Anne, was charged with several offenses, including Driving while Impaired by Drugs, Driving on a Suspended License, Driving without a License, Negligent Driving, and Failure to Control Speed to Avoid a Collision. Brown was released after being issued citations.

The incident remains under investigation by the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office.
