Newark police seek public’s help identifying auto burglary suspect

NEWARK, N.J. — Authorities are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect linked to a vehicle burglary that occurred Sunday evening.

Police responded to William Street near Washington Street around 7 p.m. after a report of a vehicle break-in. The rear passenger window had been shattered, and several personal items were stolen.

The victim reported the theft of a white Adidas backpack containing a wallet with two bank cards, a store credit card, keys, and other belongings.

Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr. urged anyone with information to contact the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).
