Baltimore man shot and wounded as gunfire erupts before dawn

BALTIMORE, Md. — A 40-year-old man was hospitalized after being shot early Wednesday morning in the city’s Northwest District, police said.

The shooting occurred around 3:24 a.m. in the 4100 block of West Belvedere Avenue. Patrol officers responded to the scene and found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound.

Medics transported the man to a nearby hospital, where he is being treated. Authorities say he is expected to survive.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting, including a motive or potential suspects, have not been released.

Detectives are asking for the public’s help as the investigation continues.

No arrests have been announced as of Wednesday morning. The area, located near residential blocks and local businesses, was secured by investigators shortly after the incident.
